Superintendent's Report

Bond Update- Renovations to MELA and construction for the Multi-Sport facility are over 90% done. Progress on the new Storm Facility is ongoing and the district is working on finalizing renderings. 
Cares Act Funding- The district received a large increase compared to the previous allocation. Cares Act funding is primarily used to support staffing. 

Site Updates

MELA- Teachers have begun an initiative to provide shoes for students in need through the "Shoes That Fit" program sponsored by Nike. The site received roughly 40 pairs of shoes and have been able to distribute over 20 pairs to students thus far. Christina Jennings and Timothy Lee were announced as MELA Teachers of the Quarter. 
Arts Academy- Since coming back from Christmas Break, teachers have logged over 2,000 hours of instruction with students. MAA is setting a goal to have 100% attendance from students in February. Chevis Smith was announced as the MAA Teacher of the Quarter.
High School- Nine students participated in taking the ASVAB, and last week one student enlisted in the United States Navy. Patricia D. Stas was announced as the MHS Teacher of the Quarter.
