Veterans Day Honors Event

Dear Parents/Guardians and Veterans,

On Thursday, November 9, 2023, Millwood Public Schools (MPS) will join with our nation in observance of Veterans Day. The MPS staff, faculty, and students cordially invite all veterans, parents, guardians, grandparents, family members and friends in the Millwood community, to join us for a program to honor and celebrate the commitment and sacrifices of our veterans. The program will begin at 10:00am at the Donald M. Edwards Memorial Auditorium, 6724 N, Martin Luther King Avenue.  The theme for this year’s program is, “Honor, Respect, Praise.”

We ask veterans, who plan to attend the program, to provide the following information:

  • Veteran’s Name

  • Branch of Service: Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, or Coast Guard

  • Period of Service (i.e. 1974 - 1988)

We will place each veteran’s name on our guest list, and if desired we will take your picture upon your arrival. All veterans are welcome to wear their uniform. Additionally, please arrive no later than 9:30am for check-in. Refreshments will be provided for our veterans following the program. In order to have the veteran’s name placed on the guest list or for additional information please contact Mr. Phredd Evans, before Monday, November 6, at 405-478-0504 or by email pevans@millwoodps.org.

The United States is in a state of change, however, one thing we believe should remain constant is our commitment to honor those who have sacrificed to serve our great nation. Therefore, this program is an opportunity for Millwood Public Schools to offer our gratitude to our uniformed service members. In the last two years, many Millwood graduates have joined the military, which brings the appreciation of national service even closer to our hearts.
