Dear Millwood Public Schools Parents and Families,

I am writing to make you aware of a phishing email scam that has recently been circulating and may have reached members of our school community.

We have received reports of fraudulent emails appearing to come from or be associated with Millwood Public Schools employees. In some cases, these messages are requesting that recipients complete an employment reference or reference check by clicking a link.

Please do not click on any links, open attachments, or provide personal information in response to these messages. Delete the email immediately.

Our district is aware of the situation and is actively addressing it. At this time, we want to be especially proactive in protecting our parents, families, employees, and community members from potentially fraudulent communications.

As a reminder, please use caution with any unexpected email that:

-Requests that you click a link to complete a reference check or employment form.
-Asks for personal, financial, or confidential information.
-Creates a sense of urgency or pressures you to respond immediately.
-Appears to come from someone you know but contains an unusual request.
-Contains links or attachments you were not expecting.
-Even if an email appears to come from a familiar Millwood employee, please do not assume it is legitimate simply because you recognize the person’s name. When in doubt, contact the employee or the district directly using contact information you already know and trust.

The safety and security of our Millwood families and staff remain a priority. We appreciate your attention to this matter and your partnership in helping us protect our school community.

Thank you for your continued support of Millwood Public Schools.

Sincerely,

A. Shannon Hayes

community meeting

Dear Falcon Family,
At Millwood Public Schools, we have always prided ourselves on being pioneers. Whether in the classroom, on the field, or throughout our community, the Falcon Way is about leading with purpose and preparing our students for the future. Today, I am excited to share an important milestone for our district. Millwood High School is now home to one of the largest public school solar installations in the state of Oklahoma, a meaningful step forward in strengthening our schools through innovation and long-term financial stewardship. We are nearing completion of a 276-kilowatt solar installation at our high school. With 531 high-efficiency panels now in place, the system is projected to offset approximately 44% of the building’s electricity use and significantly reduce long-term energy costs.

Why this matters for our community:
● Financial Stewardship: Millwood High School has historically represented a significant portion of our district’s energy usage. By harnessing solar energy, we are reducing utility costs and creating the opportunity to reinvest those savings directly into classrooms, programs, and student support.
● A "Living Laboratory" for STEM: This project creates new learning opportunities for our students. Real-time energy production data will be visible on campus, allowing our robotics, science, and technology students to engage directly with the systems powering their school. Our students are not just learning about the future of energy. They will experience it firsthand.
● Leading Through Innovation: As one of the largest public school solar projects in Oklahoma, this investment demonstrates how schools can embrace forward-thinking solutions that strengthen financial stability while supporting student learning and growth.

I would like to extend a special thank you to our facilities team, especially Lonnita Long, for her leadership and coordination, and to our partners who helped bring this project to life with no upfront cost to our district. This milestone reflects what is possible when we think boldly about the future of our schools. We are strengthening our financial foundation and expanding opportunities for our students.
Thank you for being part of this exciting moment for Millwood. The future at Millwood is bright.

Proudly,

Dear Falcon Family:

Millwood Board of Education members and administrators are having thoughtful conversations about the future of our schools—and your voice matters in that work.

We invite you to take a few minutes to complete this short survey and share your perspective. In addition to gathering general feedback, we are developing a Portrait of a Graduate, which reflects the skills, knowledge and experiences our community wants every student to gain before graduation.

Your input will help guide future planning and ensure our schools continue to meet the needs of students and families. Thank you for partnering with us as we work to provide the best services possible for Millwood students.

Today and every day, we appreciate your support of Millwood Public Schools.
